The 23-year-old actress opened up about the film, moving on from Gabriella Montez, and working in the Alaskan Outback.

On the weather conditions for The Frozen Ground: “There would be days where the wind chill was about negative 30. It definitely added to the harsh element of the film… my feet were literally frozen in my leather bound soles.”

On Spring Breakers: “I’ve never even been to a film festival, let alone competed in one! I’m really proud of the movie. I feel like it’s a breed of its own, it’s a movie unlike any other and it’s very fresh and fun and exciting. I feel like it’s a great take on our youth culture right now.”

On her High School Musical experience: “High School Musical was incredible and it was so fun and it gave me so many fans which I’m very, very thankful for, but it also closed people’s minds up as to which characters I could portray. They only saw me as Gabriella Montez and I love that character but there’s so much more to me than just that. So for a while I was kind of struggling and fighting for these roles that I just desperately wanted. It was hard and it was a struggle, but then again life is always a struggle. Having a career will always be a struggle. You’ll always have to fight for what you want. Definitely crossing over and being able to tackle these grittier parts was a challenge, but I feel like I’ve done it! It’s a whole new chapter!”

Gomez wants to ‘break out a little’ by doing drug and smoke scenes in the film, while Hudgens admits its ‘very nerve wracking’ to have threesome with Ashley Benson and James Franco.
Being known as Hollywood sweethearts and former Disney darlings, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens might shock some of their fans with their raunchy performances in “Spring Breakers”. A far cry from their images as teen idol, the characters they’re playing are rather wild and promiscuous. Commenting on how they felt when tackling the daring roles in the coming-of-age drama, both Gomez and Hudgens have their own stories to tell.

Gomez admitted that she wanted to “break out a little” by taking the role of Faith, who smokes cigarette, does drugs and rolls around only in her undies. “I absolutely do everything for my fans and they mean so much to me… [but] this is something that I did for me,” the girlfriend of Justin Bieber told E! News. “I really want to break out a little and see how I can stretch myself.”

Realizing that her performance might be a little too racy for some of her younger fans, Gomez warned, “Don’t go see it unless you’re 18 and over.” Still, Gomez’s naughty work seemed nothing compared to what her co-star Hudgens and Ashley Benson did. The two girls shared a three-way sex scene in a pool with James Franco.

Weighing in on the steamy scene, Hudgens admitted, “It was very nerve wracking.” She, however, managed to stay professional and gave her best performance, saying, “I’ve never done anything like that before. I’m just very thankful that I had one of my best friends to do it with.” Franco chimed in, “I guess I just try to stay relaxed [and] don’t use any teeth.”

In “Spring Breakers”, Franco stars as a drug and arms dealer who bails Gomez and the gang out of jail and entices them to kill his rival. The rebellious girl gang themselves previously decided to rob fast food joint so they can afford to go on spring break in Florida. After being screened at both Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, the Harmony Korine-directed movie will open in the U.S. on March 5, 2013.

New Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez Spring Breakers movie debut date finally revealed. According to Hollywood Life, the new, wild “Spring Breakers” movie, starring top starlets Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson is scheduled to debut later on today, September 5th over in Venice, Italy.

Selena Gomez was already spotted over there yesterday afternoon to do promo work for the new flick. She told the press, “People will be a little shocked, I think. I’m a little nervous about it, but honestly, it’s a right step for me, I’m really proud of it. I think as an actress it really challenged me. All of the other actresses are also trying to prove themselves, so it was just really, really fun.”

In the new flick, 4 crazy college girls get arrested for robbing a restaurant, but the trouble doesn’t stop their as they’re eventually bailed out by a drug and arms dealer that wants them to do some dirty work. It’s scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2013.

As any former child star worth their headlines knows, there’s no better way to shed your Mickey Mouse ears than by shedding the rest of your clothes too. And this time it’s Vanessa Hudgens’ turn, playing a stripper and doing lots of stripper stuff in the leaked trailer for Frozen Ground.

The film is a thriller that centers on Glenn Flothe (played by Nicolas Cage’s hair with the rest of Nic along for the ride), an Alaskan detective tracking a serial killer (that’d be John Cusack) who has been killing off coeds for 13 years. Vanessa plays an almost-victim-turned-pole dancer who gets caught in the middle.

The unfinished trailer was quickly removed from YouTube (if you search hard enough, though, you surely can find a copy floating around the Net). And while the clip may have disappeared, loads of questions still linger:

Did Vanessa take stripping lessons from Lindsay Lohan? Actually, how is it even possible that a strip-centric movie looks worse than I Know Who Killed Me? What is the accent she’s using, exactly? Region and dialect, please. Why is Nic Cage coughing? Where is 50 Cent in this trailer? Why is 50 Cent in this movie? Why is this movie a movie?
